I'm having a lazy day so I'm just going by memory here, The Birthers claim is that Obama is not a citizen. That he was not born here. In fact they say he's a Kenyan. Now I've seen a birth certificate on line as proof that he was born in Hawaii. They say it's not the original one. That it's forged. I see! Okay what about the two different Birth announcements in the papers in Hawaii. Forged yet again. Very Impressive don't you think?
His Family new way back then to forge all these documents just in case their baby Barry grew up to be President. Awesome!
Here's the part where I bust a brain cell remembering so forgive, Wasn't it the 17th amendment that clarified the qualification someone must have in order to be President.
Without to much detail the part needed for this exercise is the part about having to born here (of this soil) or a Naturalized Citizen. Of course at the time of that writing Hawaii wasn't a part of the USA.,BUT IT IS NOW!. As if said they don't believe he was born in Hawaii. For shits and giggles lets give them that, That Part that said Naturalize Citizen at this point in time kinda is important. You see Barry's Mother was born here in this Country. There's lots of proof of that. His Mom's family has history here. So because Barry was born of a American Mother he is an American Citizen.
Madness I know... You see he could have been born on a ship two miles off the coast of Somalia, He could have been hatched thirty thousand miles high in the air over say Kenya. It doesn't matter where his Mother had him, He's an American Citizen and according to the Dictionary this means he's a Naturalized Citizen and is our fucking first Black President. Sorry President Clinton.
This shit going down with some of the States wanting anyone in the future running for office to show their original Birth Certificate is just there way of saying ,"Mister President your not legit". Your not my President and I want my Country back.

I recall some on the left questioning whether McCain was born here. The reaction was quit different from the sane, Yes of course he was an American. Our Party leaders were quick to squash that idea. What a difference ehh.

Average Patriot nailed it. There might be a few gullible people who believe Obama isn't a natural-born citizen, dolts like that old, confused woman who tried to insist to McCain Obama was a Muslim and terrorist sympathizer. But most, as A.P. said, are just using it for political gain. I'll add some are probably using it for spite.
Article II of the Constitution deals with the executive. It says:
"No person except a natural born citizen or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of the President; neither shall any person who shall not have attained the age of thirty-five years, and been 14 years a resident of the United States."
Amendment XVII concerns election of senators and appointments to replace them if they can't serve out a term.

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in the gaps left by the Constitution. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"
* Anyone born inside the United States *
* Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
* Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
* Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
* Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
* A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
* There is an exception in the law — the person must be "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States. This would exempt the child of a diplomat, for example, from this provision.
Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President. These provisions allow the children of military families to be considered natural-born, for example.
In many/most cases, a child born outside the US to a US citizen or citizens is a US citizen by birth (and, in the opinions of most legal scholars, qualifies as a "natural born" citizen eligible to become President or Vice-President). The question, in such cases, is not whether the child can "become" a US citizen, but rather how the parents can go about documenting the fact of the child's citizenship.
This is the first I've seen of those specifications, but then I never needed to. It is interesting, though.
