The oil well spewing crude into the Gulf of Mexico didn’t have a remote-control shut-off switch used in two other major oil-producing nations as last-resort protection against underwater spills.
The lack of the device, called an acoustic switch, could amplify concerns over the environmental impact of offshore drilling after the explosion and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig last week.
The accident has led to one of the largest ever oil spills in U.S. water and the loss of 11 lives…
U.S. regulators don’t mandate use of the remote-control device on offshore rigs, and the Deepwater Horizon, hired by oil giant BP PLC, didn’t have one. With the remote control, a crew can attempt to trigger an underwater valve that shuts down the well even if the oil rig itself is damaged or evacuated…
Nevertheless, regulators in two major oil-producing countries, Norway and Brazil, in effect require them. Norway has had acoustic triggers on almost every offshore rig since 1993.
The U.S. considered requiring a remote-controlled shut-off mechanism several years ago, but drilling companies questioned its cost and effectiveness, according to the agency overseeing offshore drilling. The agency, the Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service, says it decided the remote device wasn’t needed because rigs had other back-up plans to cut off a well.
Golly. Does that infer the Oil Patch Boys bought enough politicians and bureaucrats to stop regulation.
An acoustic trigger costs about $500,000, industry officials said. The Deepwater Horizon had a replacement cost of about $560 million, and BP says it is spending $6 million a day to battle the oil spill…

From The Huffington Post
NPR News reports that the FBI is investigating the possible bribery of federal officials overseeing mining industry regulation by Massey Energy, the owner of the Upper Big Branch mine that exploded three weeks ago, killing 29 miners.
"The Mine Safety and Health Administration is the target of a federal criminal investigation," NPR notes, and "FBI agents are also exploring potential criminal negligence on the part of Massey Energy."
The nation's top mine safety official told lawmakers earlier this week that the government will start going directly to federal court to shut down mines that make a habit of ignoring safety.
Joe Main, director of the Mine Safety and Health Administration, said his agency has had the power to seek federal injunctions for years, but has never tried to use it.
"I can't speak for past administrations," Main said during the Senate's first hearing on the accident that killed 29 men. "We're going to use it."
Main also called for a slew of other legal and regulatory reforms to beef up safety enforcement in the wake of this month's deadly explosion at a mine in West Virginia.
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee convened the hearing to look at weaknesses in current laws that encourage mine operators and companies in other industries to challenge safety violations to delay stiffer penalties.

BP and Haliburton

An oil-drilling procedure called cementing is coming under scrutiny as a possible cause of the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico that has led to one of the biggest oil spills in U.S. history, drilling experts said Thursday.
The process is supposed to prevent oil and natural gas from escaping by filling gaps between the outside of the well pipe and the inside of the hole bored into the ocean floor. Cement, pumped down the well from the drilling rig, is also used to plug wells after they have been abandoned or when drilling has finished but production hasn't begun.
In the case of the Deepwater Horizon, workers had finished pumping cement to fill the space between the pipe and the sides of the hole and had begun temporarily plugging the well with cement; it isn't known whether they had completed the plugging process before the blast.
Regulators have previously identified problems in the cementing process as a leading cause of well blowouts, in which oil and natural gas surge out of a well with explosive force. When cement develops cracks or doesn't set properly, oil and gas can escape, ultimately flowing out of control. The gas is highly combustible and prone to ignite, as it appears to have done aboard the Deepwater Horizon, which was leased by BP PLC, the British oil giant.
Concerns about the cementing process—and about whether rigs have enough safeguards to prevent blowouts—raise questions about whether the industry can safely drill in deep water and whether regulators are up to the task of monitoring them.
The scrutiny on cementing will focus attention on Halliburton Co., the oilfield-services firm that was handling the cementing process on the rig, which burned and sank last week. The disaster, which killed 11, has left a gusher of oil streaming into the Gulf from a mile under the surface.
Federal officials declined to comment on their investigation, and Halliburton didn't respond to questions from The Wall Street Journal.
According to Transocean Ltd., the operator of the drilling rig, Halliburton had finished cementing the 18,000-foot well shortly before the explosion. Houston-based Halliburton is the largest company in the global cementing business, which accounted for $1.7 billion, or about 11%, of the company's revenue in 2009, according to consultant Spears & Associates.
Growing worries about potential lawsuits and other costs of the oil spill in the wake of its rapid spread led investors to clobber stocks of companies involved in the Deepwater Horizon well Thursday.
Halliburton fell 5.3% to $31.60 and Cameron International Corp., which built the blowout-prevention equipment that didn't stop the explosion, dropped 13% to $38.70, both at 4 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading.
The timing of the cementing in relation to the blast—and the procedure's history of causing problems—point to it as a possible culprit in the Deepwater Horizon disaster, experts said.
"The initial likely cause of gas coming to the surface had something to do with the cement," said Robert MacKenzie, managing director of energy and natural resources at FBR Capital Markets and a former cementing engineer in the oil industry.
Several other drilling experts agreed, though they cautioned that the investigation into what went wrong at the Deepwater Horizon site is still in its preliminary stages.
The problem could have been a faulty cement plug at the bottom of the well, he said. Another possibility would be that cement between the pipe and well walls didn't harden properly and allowed gas to pass through it.
A 2007 study by three U.S. Minerals Management Service officials found that cementing was a factor in 18 of 39 well blowouts in the Gulf of Mexico over a 14-year period. That was the single largest factor, ahead of equipment failure and pipe failure.
The Halliburton cementers would have sought approval for their plans—the type of cement and how much would be used—from a BP official on board the rig before carrying out their job. Scott Dean, a BP spokesman, said it was premature to speculate on the role cement might have played in the disaster.
Halliburton also was the cementer on a well that suffered a big blowout last August in the Timor Sea, off Australia. The rig there caught fire and a well leaked tens of thousands of barrels of oil over 10 weeks before it was shut down. The investigation is continuing; Halliburton declined to comment on it.
Elmer P. Danenberger, who had recently retired as head of regulatory affairs for the U.S. Minerals Management Service, told the Australian commission looking into the blowout that a poor cement job was probably the reason oil and natural gas gushed out of control.

Defending AZ law, Peters falsely claims crime rates are "soaring" in border states
2 hours and 9 minutes ago
In his New York Post column, Ralph Peters defended the controversial Arizona immigration law in part by citing "soaring crime rates in our border states." However, crime rates in Arizona -- as well as crime rates for each state bordering Mexico -- have dropped during the past decade.
Peters defends AZ law in part by citing "soaring crime rates in our border states"
From Peters' April 29 New York Post column:
Our ruling class simply doesn't feel the pain. So the DC elite demonizes Arizona's desperate effort to shove the narco-revolution's disorder back across the border. Murdered ranchers, overwhelmed emergency rooms and soaring crime rates in our border states mean less to the White House than a terrorist detainee's claims of abuse.
In fact, according to BJS, crime rates in border states have dropped during past decade
Crime rates in Arizona at lowest point in decades. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), the violent crime rate in Arizona was lower in 2006, 2007, and 2008 -- the most recent year from which data are available -- than any year since 1983. The property crime rate in Arizona was lower in 2006, 2007, and 2008 than any year since 1968. In addition, in Arizona, the violent crime rate dropped from 577.9 per 100,000 population in 1998 to 447 per 100,000 population in 2008; the property crime rate dropped from 5,997 to 4,291 during the same period. During the same decade, Arizona's undocumented immigrant population grew rapidly. The Arizona Republic reported: "Between January 2000 and January 2008, Arizona's undocumented population grew 70 percent, according to the DHS [Department of Homeland Security] report. Nationally, it grew 37 percent."
Crime rates have dropped during past decade in other border states. The BJS data further show that violent crime rates and property crime rates in California, New Mexico, and Texas dropped from 1998 through 2008 -- the most recent year from which data are available:
* In California, the violent crime rate dropped from 703.7 in 1998 to 503.8 in 2008; the property crime rate dropped from 3,639.1 to 2,940.3 during the same period.
* In New Mexico, the violent crime rate dropped from 961.4 in 1998 to 649.9 in 2008; the property crime rate dropped from 5,757.7 to 3,909.2 over the same period.
* In Texas, the violent crime rate dropped from 564.6 in 1998 to 507.9 in 2008; the property crime rate dropped from 4,547 to 3,985.6 over the same period.
Cato's Griswold: "[I]t is a smear to blame low-skilled immigrant workers from Latin America for creating a crime problem in Arizona." In an April 27 post, Daniel Griswold, director of the Cato Institute's Center for Trade Policy Studies, wrote that "Arizona's harsh new law against illegal immigration is being justified in part as a measure to combat crime" and that "drug-related violence along the border is a real problem." But, Griswold continued, "it is a smear to blame low-skilled immigrant workers from Latin America for creating a crime problem in Arizona." From Griswold's post:
Arizona's harsh new law against illegal immigration is being justified in part as a measure to combat crime. The murder of an Arizona rancher in March, allegedly by somebody in the country without documentation, galvanized support for the bill.
The death of the rancher was a tragedy, and drug-related violence along the border is a real problem, but it is a smear to blame low-skilled immigrant workers from Latin America for creating a crime problem in Arizona.
The crime rate in Arizona in 2008 was the lowest it has been in four decades. In the past decade, as the number of illegal immigrants in the state grew rapidly, the violent crime rate dropped by 23 percent, the property crime rate by 28 percent.
Peters also claimed that AZ bill "empower[s] police to pursue criminal aliens"
From Peters' column:
But these issues are all interwoven with the Mexican government's existential crisis. Drug wealth fuels criminal empires. Those narco-empires are now so powerful that they've risen against the state. Human trafficking is a useful sideline for drug lords. And illegal immigration drives crime rates in bankruptcy-threatened US cities and states.
Cross-border trade's the next target. Narco-insurgents now feel sufficiently confident to attack Mexican army installations and US consulates. The maquiladoras, those thousands of assembly plants along the border, won't escape the mayhem. Given their enormous contribution to Mexico's fiscal stability and employment rates, those plants are obvious targets as the narco-challenge to the state intensifies.
Mexican journalists, too, have been killed by the hundreds. Their torture and execution doesn't generate much excitement north of the border, though. It's their bad luck to be butchered by Mexican narcos. Had they been killed accidentally by US forces in Iraq or Afghanistan, they'd be famous martyrs.
And Arizona's "discriminatory" new state law empowering police to pursue criminal aliens? Should Phoenix let the rule of law collapse because Washington prefers political correctness to public safety? In DC, it's about politics. In Arizona, it's about survival.
But officers reportedly could already inquire about immigration status of those who are suspected of another crime
LA Times: "Currently, officers can inquire about" immigration status "if the person is a suspect in another crime." The Los Angeles Times reported of the Arizona bill on April 13: "Currently, officers can inquire about someone's immigration status only if the person is a suspect in another crime. The bill allows officers to avoid the immigration issue if it would be impractical or hinder another investigation." From the article:
The bill, known as SB 1070, makes it a misdemeanor to lack proper immigration paperwork in Arizona. It also requires police officers, if they form a "reasonable suspicion" that someone is an illegal immigrant, to determine the person's immigration status.
Currently, officers can inquire about someone's immigration status only if the person is a suspect in another crime. The bill allows officers to avoid the immigration issue if it would be impractical or hinder another investigation.

Birther Madness
After all this time this Birther thing is still growing. I really thought reason and education would make this absurd accusation just fade away. We all had our laugh at Orly Taitz. This woman is of the Bizarro world for sure. Quit the looker though..HA!
Holy fuck Imagine her saying to you open wide while wearing her Doctor Dentist garb. Yuck!
I'm having a lazy day so I'm just going by memory here, The Birthers claim is that Obama is not a citizen. That he was not born here. In fact they say he's a Kenyan. Now I've seen a birth certificate on line as proof that he was born in Hawaii. They say it's not the original one. That it's forged. I see! Okay what about the two different Birth announcements in the papers in Hawaii. Forged yet again. Very Impressive don't you think?
His Family new way back then to forge all these documents just in case their baby Barry grew up to be President. Awesome!
Here's the part where I bust a brain cell remembering so forgive, Wasn't it the 17th amendment that clarified the qualification someone must have in order to be President.
Without to much detail the part needed for this exercise is the part about having to born here (of this soil) or a Naturalized Citizen. Of course at the time of that writing Hawaii wasn't a part of the USA.,BUT IT IS NOW!. As if said they don't believe he was born in Hawaii. For shits and giggles lets give them that, That Part that said Naturalize Citizen at this point in time kinda is important. You see Barry's Mother was born here in this Country. There's lots of proof of that. His Mom's family has history here. So because Barry was born of a American Mother he is an American Citizen.
Madness I know... You see he could have been born on a ship two miles off the coast of Somalia, He could have been hatched thirty thousand miles high in the air over say Kenya. It doesn't matter where his Mother had him, He's an American Citizen and according to the Dictionary this means he's a Naturalized Citizen and is our fucking first Black President. Sorry President Clinton.
This shit going down with some of the States wanting anyone in the future running for office to show their original Birth Certificate is just there way of saying ,"Mister President your not legit". Your not my President and I want my Country back.
And why Not......It's the American Way...our right to be assholes......USA USA USA

Is there a Doctor in The House
I used this title once before. Finally I have Health Insurance. I know, it's really good news.
Here's the problem, I can't find a decent Doctor who won't let their own values get in my way towards my better Health.
Now I had A Doctor for years and years but lately She's been getting a little bat shit. It cost over $120.00 a visit for Five minutes. After Five minutes
a Lovely assistant all of say 500lbs., knocks on the door, lumbers in and proclaims to the Doctor "Your Times Up" You have to go to the next patient.
In my head of course I'm thinking $120.00 and not even a reach around. Let's spend a moment talking of the Fat Bastard Nurse. She's so fat you can't even see her shoes cause the fat on her feet just surrounds the shoe.
Well I think it's a shoe. I digress! The main problem I have with Porky is she always has something stupid to say. Example, when I trying to get my
blood pressure down from like 220/115 to say 120/70 she would yell "You got to get your blood pressure under control" I'd say what the fuck am I
Paying you to do? You get my blood pressure down! My kids also go to this Office, When cutie pie sees them she quips "I hope you don't have the same
Bad habits as your Parents".
So I decided to try and find another Doctor, after all I have insurance Now. This is the most frustrating thing I've ever done. I can't tell you how many Doctors
Don't want me because I'm to sick. To much time they say. Got to move them in and move them out. Last week this one PA insisted I have my prostate checked.
I thought, What the fuck I'm here...Okay I drop my pants and kind of bend over the table. This creature from the black lagoon put's on a glove (Thank God) but without LUBE
is trying to make a hole where there is none. I'm saying to her, No I think it's lower.....This lasted about a minute when she went in all dry and stuff. Never even got close

Chickens have come home to roost.
Nevada Senatorial wanna be,Sue Lowden has come up with the republican solution to HCR.
Genius here suggest payments to Doctors should be made with Chickens. Horse feathers you say? No really she did. She was even given the chance to recount her statement. She stood her Pen and said no, she would not change her mind. Now I know some of you are cackling about this but it just might work. The Doctor gives you a Bill and you give him one right back(Duck Bill)that is.
One now has to ask themselves, Am I worth my weight in Chickens? This is no poultry euphemism. This is real, damn real. Only the rural people will now be able to afford the best of the best health care. City dwellers your out of luck. Your Zoning laws are the downfall of civilization now.
Geeez I can't even get a Doctor to treat me cause I'm too Sick!!!!!!!
Where's old Doc Welbey when you need him. Damn even when I do find a sucker Doctor it cost 200.00 for 5 minutes and without even a reach around. I see my mistake now, I should have offered farm animals.
The thing is Peggy sue here is 10 points ahead of Harry Rheems in Nevada.

So I'll have to take Arizona off my list of travel places.
Seems these crackers are trying git tough on borders.
If passed anyone could be stopped at the Cops discretion. (Just cause you look odd or like a foreigner). Like Nazi Germany of old you will then have to show your papers.
Fucking blows my mind that in this Country people want to pass something like this.
Why don't they just send all the browns there to camps, put them to work building roads.
Maybe the final solution would be a nice shower.

Oh for Christ's Sake
President Obama to nominate Jesus Christ to Supreme Court.
President Barack Obama is expected to nominate Jesus Christ, an immigrant originally born to a virgin mother in Bethlehem, to fill the new vacancy on the Supreme Court. Although Mr. Christ is over 2,000 years old, He is immortal, so Democrats and Republicans expect that He will serve on the high court forever or until He decides to start the End Times. Republicans are expected to fight the nomination on the grounds that Mr. Christ would radically move the Court to the left. The GOP is also concerned that, despite decades of controversy and speculation, Mr. Christ has never revealed his position on abortion. Mr. Christ, according to many authorities, is expected to oppose the death penalty in all forms. Michael Steele, the head of the GOP national committee, issued a statement: "Christ is a complete mystery to us. He won't reveal His physical appearance and many of His positions are unknown or the subject of speculation. He is a stealth candidate. Why won't He reveal himself? Who does He think He is?"
Republicans are reportedly outraged that Mr. Obama even considered Mr. Christ, who has been widely quoted for his sentiments supporting the poor over the wealthy. In a Facebook post, former half-term Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin called for an investigation into the Bethlehem chapter of ACORN because of what she termed the "highly suspicious" coincidence that both President Obama and Mr. Christ had each spent three years as community organizers. In her post, Palin also wrote that "More and more of good God-fearing smalltime Americans from hardworking smalltime towns from great parts of this real America, West, South, East, North, are seeing more and more every day that Christ is a community organizer. We don't need another community organizer in the White House!"
Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) asked, "We're not even sure where He was born. Why is He afraid to show us his birth certificate?" Bachmann also announced that she would vote "no" when the Christ nomination came before the House of Representatives. Later, her congressional staff released a statement saying that the Congresswoman had forgotten that the House does not vote on judicial nominations.
According to Rush Limbaugh, "Christ doesn't know anything about free enterprise. This is part of the Obama conspiracy to drag us to socialism. If this guy is approved, I'm moving to Costa Rica." Sobbing, Glenn Beck attacked Christ's support for the separation of church and state, telling his audience "You know who else wanted a separation of church and state? Hitler."
Several Catholic priests were contacted for comment but refused to discuss the issue, and, even though they weren't asked, all empathetically denied that they had personally molested any children.
Democrats are optimistic about their chances of shoving Mr. Christ down the throats of Americans using normal constitutional and parliamentary procedures. Many Democrats are hopeful that Mr. Christ's past associations with prostitutes will earn him at least one Republican vote, that of Sen. David Vitter (R-LA).
If confirmed, Christ will be the first Supreme Court Justice who has at least one American city named after him: Corpus Christi, Texas.

This is a prime example of teabagger hate.

The Smith Act
The Alien Registration Act or Smith Act (18 U.S.C. § 2385) of 1940 is a United States federal statute that makes it a criminal offense for
“ Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof - Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction. ”
It also required all non-citizen adult residents to register with the government; within four months, 4,741,971 aliens had registered under the Act's provisions.
The Act is best known for its use against political organizations and figures. Prosecutions continued until a series of United States Supreme Court decisions in 1957 threw out numerous convictions under the Smith Act as unconstitutional. The statute remains on the books, however.
The Act was proposed by Congressman Howard W. Smith of Virginia, a Democrat and a leader of the "anti-labor" bloc of Congressmen.[1] It was signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Seems to Me that their are a lot of Wingers that fall under this Act. The first one that should be brought up on charges is Michele Bachmann. Her hate speech and insightful rhetoric will, I guaranty get someone killed. Make an example of Her and I think this lunacy will be subdued. After all they can't get their Medicare in Prison. In talking with a fellow blogger, he was concerned over prosecuting people. His thought was you have to wait until someone actually does the crime or in of itself it might be incendiary. My reasoning on this is the following; You know of someone who say hates cops. He's threatening if ever a cop stops him he'll blow his brains out. You also know this in not just a one time rant but it seems an obsession. A cop stops him for a traffic infraction and he kills the Cop. Seems to me you could have stopped it and you might even be charged as an accessory. This is why we can't ignore the seditious behavior of the fringe. Stop it before it happens!

Could you be any worse than you are............
El-Rushbo (Rush Limbaugh) said on his Fridays show that The Volcanic Eruption in Iceland was God's response to the passage of Health Care.
He told his lemmings that a few days ago Obama came out and pointed out the world survived the passage of the Bill. He said the birds were out and singing and no asteroids were heading our way. He also said the Earth didn't open up.
Of course fat boy slim pointed out the Earth did indeed open up.
Rush also said "I don't know whether it's a rebirth or Armageddon, hopefully it's a rebirth..
Since all I heard was a clip, I'm thinking it was said tongue and cheek. His drugged up little way to be funny.
OR
Perhaps he's tuned in right to Gawd. After all his talents are on lone from Gawd.

The Contract from America
We, the undersigned, call upon those seeking to represent us in public office to sign the Contract from America and by doing so commit to support each of its agenda items, work to bring each agenda item to a vote during the first year, and pledge to advocate on behalf of individual liberty, limited government, and economic freedom.
Individual Liberty
Our moral, political, and economic liberties are inherent, not granted by our government. It is essential to the practice of these liberties that we be free from restriction over our peaceful political expression and free from excessive control over our economic choices.
Limited Government
The purpose of our government is to exercise only those limited powers that have been relinquished to it by the people, chief among these being the protection of our liberties by administering justice and ensuring our safety from threats arising inside or outside our country’s sovereign borders. When our government ventures beyond these functions and attempts to increase its power over the marketplace and the economic decisions of individuals, our liberties are diminished and the probability of corruption, internal strife, economic depression, and poverty increases.
Economic Freedom
The most powerful, proven instrument of material and social progress is the free market. The market economy, driven by the accumulated expressions of individual economic choices, is the only economic system that preserves and enhances individual liberty. Any other economic system, regardless of its intended pragmatic benefits, undermines our fundamental rights as free people.
1. Protect the Constitution
Require each bill to identify the specific provision of the Constitution that gives Congress the power to do what the bill does. (82.03%)
2. Reject Cap & Trade
Stop costly new regulations that would increase unemployment, raise consumer prices, and weaken the nation’s global competitiveness with virtually no impact on global temperatures. (72.20%)
3. Demand a Balanced Budget
Begin the Constitutional amendment process to require a balanced budget with a two-thirds majority needed for any tax hike. (69.69%)
4. Enact Fundamental Tax Reform
Adopt a simple and fair single-rate tax system by scrapping the internal revenue code and replacing it with one that is no longer than 4,543 words—the length of the original Constitution. (64.90%)
5. Restore Fiscal Responsibility & Constitutionally Limited Government in Washington
Create a Blue Ribbon taskforce that engages in a complete audit of federal agencies and programs, assessing their Constitutionality, and identifying duplication, waste, ineffectiveness, and agencies and programs better left for the states or local authorities, or ripe for wholesale reform or elimination due to our efforts to restore limited government consistent with the US Constitution’s meaning. (63.37%)
6. End Runaway Government Spending
Impose a statutory cap limiting the annual growth in total federal spending to the sum of the inflation rate plus the percentage of population growth. (56.57%)
7. Defund, Repeal, & Replace Government-run Health Care
Defund, repeal and replace the recently passed government-run health care with a system that actually makes health care and insurance more affordable by enabling a competitive, open, and transparent free-market health care and health insurance system that isn’t restricted by state boundaries. (56.39%)
8. Pass an ‘All-of-the-Above” Energy Policy
Authorize the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries and reduce regulatory barriers to all other forms of energy creation, lowering prices and creating competition and jobs. (55.51%)
9. Stop the Pork
Place a moratorium on all earmarks until the budget is balanced, and then require a 2/3 majority to pass any earmark. (55.47%)
10. Stop the Tax Hikes
Permanently repeal all tax hikes, including those to the income, capital gains, and death taxes, currently scheduled to begin in 2011. (53.38%)
This is just in case you want to read their dribble and comment on it.

Obama Slams GOP on Financial Reform
Republican opposition to financial reform reached new heights this week when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) derided Democratic efforts as a new "bailout," but President Obama appears more than happy to leap into the fray. In his weekly radio address Saturday, Obama slammed McConnell for meeting with two dozen Wall Street executives shortly before he attacked the bill this week. "Lo and behold, when he returned to Washington, the Senate Republican Leader came out against the common-sense reforms we’ve proposed," Obama said. "In doing so, he made the cynical and deceptive assertion that reform would somehow enable future bailouts—when he knows that it would do just the opposite." Obama touted several provisions of the bill as much-needed reform, including a consumer protection agency, new restrictions on the shady and unregulated derivatives market, and a clear system for dismantling failing banks. "Simply put, this means no more taxpayer bailouts," Obama said. Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) delivered the weekly Republican address, warning that higher taxes would create a "bleak future for our kids and grandkids" and calling for cuts to government spending.

Money well spent (don't think so)
Six Billion dollars and eight years later, Afghan police still are unable to shoot their weapons. We introduced the Afghan Police two new weapons of choice. One would be the AK-47 and the other, M16s. Hell they work for us ok. The Germans tried and failed, then we sent our private contractors to show them how it's done. The contractors I believe were Blackwater. Blackwater is now called Xe. What's in a name huh! I'm sure you remember Blackwater and all the investigations enacted against them for fraud, intimidation, killings, and sexual atrocities. The sexual atrocities were sometimes against female employees working for them.
So Eight years have gone by and the Afghan police are just a joke. Some have said the Gang that couldn't shoot straight. No wonder the police there have a high turn over,at least twenty four are killed each month and many just desert.
Well seems that the Italians who had contractors there happened to look into this. Their findings were no one ever showed these bumbling Barney Fifes how to sight in their weapons. Geeez six billion dollars. For a lot less money they could have hired the Mob to spend a couple of days with them and be done.
Senator McCaskill is looking into this. Now some would say hey you guys have been in power for a year and a half. Why the hell did you just find out about this.
I say..Look morons..The Republicans can't even read a 2700 page bill, cause that's to much reading to do. Now McCaskill is on the oversight panel fine, Can you imagine all the "reading" they have to do to uncover all the bullshit hidden. At least She's bringing it to light and doing something about it.
Some of you ask what the hell do we need Private contractors who have no interest in completion of anything because they'll lose money if they do. I agree! The problem is the Military wants what it wants and it wants things now. Somebody has to be the parent here and say how money is spent.

McConnell Musters Madness
And so Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is showing his true colors again. On the Wall Street reform bill he has gathered his lemmings and directed 41, to all oppose the Bill. Seems like Da ja Vue. So familiar too me,I just can't seem to retrieve that memory.
Now even McConnell's home paper is calling him out for what he is. He's a thief,a blatant obstructionist and a liar. He get's his talking points and directives from Frank Luntz, the evil conservative brain behind no brains. The last holdout was Susan Collins of Maine. What's up with the way she talks, she sounds like a stroke victim. I should know cause I was one too. Can you believe it, not a single republican to vote for reform. To me all that means is every single one of the obstructionist are in bed with Wall street. I guess they're just fine with the thievery that went on. The fact that Wall street almost took down our country is of no consequence I guess. Hey you tea baggers out there, this is ok with you huh! As long as the poor don't benefit must be your credo.
Not even The Goldman Sachs civil fraud now the attention of the Media is of any consequence. And they think November elections will be a mandate for Republicans. It will be a mandate alright but for the other Party.

The Morning After
Health Care Reform: The Morning After
Many politicians and pundits warned us that the health care reform (HCR) legislation that just became law will destroy America. Government bureaucrats will take over health care decisions, we were told. The old and infirm would be hauled away by death panels. Everything about the way we receive our medical care will change, and change drastically, they said.
Medicare recipients have been frightened by stories that their benefits will be cut. Middle-age people are worried they will lose their jobs when the law’s dreaded regulations, or taxes, or maybe regulations with taxes, would destroy their employers’ businesses.
The truth is, very little will change for most people. If you were insured by employee benefits before HCR, you will be insured by exactly the same policy in exactly the same way after HCR. You will have access to the same doctors on the same terms. “Government bureaucrats” will no more be involved in your health care than they were before.
And the same is true of Medicare, which of course is a government program, although many of the people who opposed the HCR bill don’t seem to know that.
Here are the “cataclysmic” changes to health care that are now in effect, or which will go into effect within the next six months for people who are already in group insurance plans:
• The law says you can’t lose your insurance coverage because you get sick. Before, in many states, if you were stricken with a severe illness such as mesothelioma cancer http://www.maacenter.org/mesothelioma/ that would be expensive to treat, your insurer could use just about any excuse to cancel your coverage. That is over.
• HCR has ended lifetime limits on coverage. As long as you are receiving medical care, your insurer pays the bills.
• Your children can be covered on your existing policy until they are 26 years old.
• In six months, insurers cannot refuse to insure people under the age of 19 because of “pre-existing conditions.” This provision will go into effect for everyone in 2014.
And if you are on Medicare, you will be asked to struggle with the following:
• You get a free annual checkup.
• The co-pays and deductibles on many preventive care services are eliminated.
• If you are in the Medicare D “doughnut hole,” doughnut hole,” doughnut hole,” doughnut hole,” you will get a $250 rebate check in a few weeks. The hole itself will be closed gradually and will be gone by 2020.
But what about all those terrible regulations and taxes that are about to drive businesses out of business? Um, there really isn’t much to report. Oh, wait, here’s one — a 10 percent tax on indoor tanning services that use ultraviolet lamps will go into effect July 1. That’s about it.
However, beginning this year a tax credit will be available for some small businesses to help provide insurance coverage for employees.
Soon the politicians and pundits will start trying to frighten you about the provisions that will go into effect after this year. I assure you they are about as scary as the provisions that go into effect this year, but I will discuss them in a follow-up post.

Odd Couple
I'm talking about Ronald Reagan and Alan Greenspan. I know many of you remember well what was called Voodoo Economics by George Bush. For the sake of being Vice President he ate his words. To bad really,at that juncture in time he told the truth and Reagan's economic policy was bad for the country. While Ronnie was running for President he kept on saying the Democratic policy's have up to that point been Tax and Spend, A term still used quite often today.
And so Reaganomics was born. Borrow and spend. Reagan and Greenspan conspired to rewrite how things were done and are still being done today. Supply side economics was the new catch phrase. For the less schooled it was called trickle down Economics. Their argument was only the rich could supply jobs to the serf's. That would be us. You know it took 200 years for us to get in debt for the first Trillion dollars. Under Reagan it only took 5 years to double it.
As all of us know he cut taxes for the Rich. What some don't know is that he raided the Social Security Fund. In 1982 Reagan made Greenspan chairman Of the National commission on Social Security.
The following year Greenspan enacted a very large hike in payroll taxes in order to Generate surpluses to cover the next 30 years. This hike was NOT used to pay for Social Security but was used to pay for spending of the Administration. Since the Rich weren't paying for their share the working stiff had to pay. Worked well don't you think?
In 1987 Reagan nominated Greenspan to replace Paul Volker as Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
Over the years some caught on to this scam like Senator Danial Moynihan from New York.
Moyihan went after Bush at this point and wanted the Payroll tax reduced to what it was before they got their greedy hands on it. Not so Much.
The thing is their of course, been Presidents after Bush,Clinton,Bush,Bush, and now Obama.
Still to this day not a freaking dime goes into the fund that was set up to keep Social Security solvent. If the money was never taken out to start with,we would have had over 2.5 Trillion Dollars in it.
I'm telling you, Ronald Reagan was the worst thing to happen to this country. Voodoo economics persist 30 years after. Today he is looked at as if he were a God. I'm surprised they don't rename the country after him.
The United States of Reagan. As far as Greenspan, why the hell is this guy listened to at all. Obama wake the hell up! If you want advice ask Elizabeth Warren and not the clowns advising you now.

Obama's no Saint
There's a Muslim cleric that not to much has been written about. Anwar al-Awlaki is his name. This guy is a American citizen. A douche bag no doubt but still a citizen.
He was the guy that the Fort Hood asshole was in communication with before his slaughter of personnel on base. The USA has been monitoring this guy for years. He recently has been in Jail in Yemen but has been released due to lack of evidence. For sure this guy hates America and has put out propaganda on it. On April 6th the New York times put out an article that Obama put a hit out on him. That's right assassination.
Now President Ford outlawed this form of retribution years ago. First of all I find it curious that we heard so little about this. Second, have we changed the laws concerning it. I have to wonder if it has limits. To be honest I'm kind of torn on this. I have said in the past that I would have preferred taken out Osama and Saddam without sending in boots. But an American Citizen I have a problem with. Let's face it,there are a lot of American Citizens we would like to be taken out like that Phelps guy but we don't.
Now I know after 911 it was said that anyone conspiring with Al Qaeda is a target. Doesn't that have to be proven?
Your thoughts......
My many thanks to Melissa for her help on this..

Old Sarah would have more credibility if she could pronounce Nuclear. If she can't even do her homework on that, why should she be given any credence.

What is it........
I was just sitting here contemplating what it is with Sarah Palin that attracts so many people. I find her despicable. She is Vile, corrupt, archaic, spiteful, egotistical, Maniacal, self deluding, shrill, and just plain stupid. Yet they love her. Scares me because we already had a dimwit in office as President. She already pronounces Nuclear just like him. Scary Shit! At least where I live, People love her. They think she's the second coming. Old men fantasize about doing her, Old women love the fact she is so outspoken while her Hubby is mute. Even the young adults that barely finished High School and can't fill out a employment application love her. Here in shit kicking land they want to emulate her. Even Walmart workers who basically work for nothing and can't even buy health insurance kneel at the alter of Sarah. What deep need does she fill for these Cretans. I just don't get it. I have never heard her say anything that wasn't a catch phrase. Is that it...People can't understand complex thoughts and can only remember silly catch phrases. I don't know but I'm feeling kinda sad for OUR country.
Maybe it's the education system we have..Maybe we have reaped what we sowed.. Fuck 7:00am and I'm going to have a beer...Damn you Sarah.......

gurgle gurgle
How many times do you think the righties have said this reform is being rammed, shoved, and just overall pushed down your throat. What the hell is this fascination with being throated. OK maybe Laura Ingram. Definitely Sarah, Michele, and Liz should be candidates.
Love to see that old bag taking the big one,Peggy Noonan...slurping down Pat Buchanan.
Really do they practice saying that shit before they go out in the morning?
Let's hope they get (it) from Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas. Long Dong Silver.
Hi HO everybody...........
PS Dems do not go on FOX! It's not a real news outlet. Nothing good will come of it.

At this same hate convention down in New Orleans, Newt out did himself. He said Obama was the most radical administration ever in the history of the United States.
Really Newt, and since when do you have any credibility. Fig I got to tell ya, some of us remember you going after Clinton and at the same time while married to a sick woman played hide the sausage with your girlfriend. You Fucking hypocritical chowder head American family value load in your pants president want to be. Now wipe your ass and go far away.

I'm Sorry
Today Governor Bobby Jindal who spoke at the National Southern Republican leadership nutbag conference of sour minds. It was sad, Bobby was sad, yes Mr. Rogers came out into the neighborhood and projected his deep wistful sadness. His feelings were hurt. He said...It makes me very sad that the Democratic party is calling the republicans the party of NO. He almost looked like Glenn Beck with his bottom lip slightly quivering. Then out of nowhere he hit me with..were not the party of NO...Were the party of Hell NO.
I'm so glad he cleared that up for me... Bobby go back to your Hood...Fantasy Land..

The genius of Sean Hannity
Progressive and liberal news people including blogger's, your wrong! You try to inform people with rational observation and reports. People are fucking stupid. They obviously have no memory. They can't even remember the shit about Bush. They think Obama started the wars and he was solely responsible for the Money meltdown. They truly believe Obama in a Kenyan, Socialist, Communist, Nazi, Muslim,Radical who loves jamming things down our throat because that's what blacks do. All together now..I want my country back...Waaaaahh.
The reason people believe Fox and idiots is because of repetition. Hannity on a minute to minute basis goes down the list of talking points in a cadence style. Almost musically. All the fucking talking Gods on the Right have the same talking points.Example..How many times did you hear about Acorn. Acorn the scorn of political bastion. Acorn if you listened to those cocksuckers bash them and lied about them again and again, all night ,all day, months on end. Guess what they were proved innocent of all charges. Yes Fox lied!!!! They showed you partial clips because if they showed you the whole thing it would prove acorn innocent. I don't hear to much about that though on "the government news media". Take advice from Hannity, repeat, repeat repeat.
I run into people everyday who verbatim repeat in exact order talking points from the nut machine. Fox could make people believe George W was the first black president.

Palen
Would somebody please teach this poor excuse for reproduction how the fuck to pronounce NUCLEAR. Maybe she could ask Bush how to pronounce it.
I watching her on TV at the moment. Let me be clear about this..........
The woman is a smelly used up CUNT.
Thanks Crash McCain for NOTHING.
She needs to get Bachmann and the two of them to go away. Perhaps Russia..
Those catch phrases have to go..
Drill baby drill should have been left where it was...in her and Tod's bedroom.
That's their pillow talk....
Just one question for ya Sarah, who's baby is that? How did you get that baby's ears fixed...

Safety what's that?
I often talk with a friend and fellow blogger Demeur about Safety or lack of it.
We never would have thought our fears would be realized so soon. This mine disaster in West Virginia is a travesty. The company had been cited for numerous violations many having to do with this exact kind of incident. Both OSHA and MSHA are these days toothless. All the company had to do was ignore the safety violations and just pay the fines. These Miners had no say in the work environment they labored. I'm sure Demeur is beside himself with anguish. He's still in the Safety Business and I'm retired from it.
Let me tell you this could have been avoided. First the company was NOT unionized. This one thing would have allowed the miners to refuse to go in the mines if they deemed it unsafe without fear of reprisals. Two, The company needed to fix the Safety Violations.
Three, Osha and MSHA needs to be funded properly and be able to exact not only heavy fines, but the ability to shut down a company until said violations are indeed fixed.
This company seems to be the Walmart of coal mining.
To the family's and friends of Miners involved our thoughts and well wishes are with you.

Rules of Engagement not followed
So a camera man along with a group of people were systematical mowed down. This was in 2007. The Apache helicopter crew was filming this. There voices can be heard in the background enjoying savagely cutting these people down. Laughing and just so proud of themselves. Especial was the enjoyment of tearing apart a rescue van with children inside. Crews reaction was to say well to bad they shouldn't be in a combat zone. I've heard retired generals saying hey that's the way it goes. War is hell. Ahhhuh! So it's ok to say that a tripod looks like it could be a weapon. It's ok that only one of the group had a gun, which was and is common practice in Afghanistan. It's ok when it's obvious that the van was there to try and help survivors. It's ok to nearly cut the van in half knowing kids are inside. It's ok to laugh at a Tank running over one of the people you just slaughtered. This is all ok Right? What the Fuck have we become! Were supposed to be the good guys. If this isn't an indictment to bring our God damn troops home what is! What about this cover up and the fact it just came out now without the military's approval. How many more "films" are out there. I'm of course not saying all our troops are unfeeling gangsters but it's obvious they exist. Again I say what the fuck...Sad for all of us.....
Please Mr. President....bring our troops home before it's to late........

Your going to do what?
The Nut group Guardians of the Free Republic has taken it upon themselves to send a letter of warning to several Governors. It supposedly says something like join us in our views and sign this statement confirming that. If not there will be consequences. What the fuck! I've not had the privilege of reading said letter as of yet. I guess the Governess have three days to respond or else. I swear someone's going to get hurt and we will be sitting around wondering what happened.

Is there s Doctor in the house?
I'm sure there is but it's not Dr.Jack(ASS)Cassell of Mount Dora Fla. I know it sounds like I don't like Doctors and for the most part you would be right. This Peter prod er has HUNG a new shingle on his door. Yes this DICK of a Doctor had the BALLS to proclaim he would not see any patient who voted for Obama and was in favor of the Health Care Bill. Coincidence I'm sure that his wife, the lovely Leslie Campione is running for the Lake County Commission seat. Hippocratic oath in a NUTshell, doesn't apply to him. Maybe he's just running YELLOW,Of course in a full stream. He has actually turned away people at his door. This Johnny CUM lately says he didn't turn them away,it was their choice after reading the sign. Well SCROTUM's You don't know SQUAT! Theirs an awful lots of folks that don't respond to kindly to a Doctor being a PRICK. The LONG and SHORT of this is Doctor Cyclops is another freak that should be run out of town on a rail along with his hate filled wife. May they run out of Viagra forever or have I been PREMATURE in my judgment.
I think we got this guy by the short hairs...

To the rescue
I recently posted about the man who lost his Son to the War. This crazy church group showed up at the Funeral and demonstrated in front of the dead soldiers family. They spieled all kinds of hate towards the Poor family. Well these hate mongers sued the father of this soldier and won. Fred Phelps needs to get Cancer and die as the leader of the hate Church. Phelps won the case and the soldiers family will have to pay $16,000.(court cost)
Not so fast....Of all people Bill O'Reilly stepped up and payed the cost of the suit.
I never thought I would say this but KUDOS to Mr.O'Rielly. Well Done!
