For weeks I've been hearing from BP and Our Government that the finale solution is going to be these two relief wells. They have also told us July or August is the date when things could be fixed. Swell!
The thing they didn't tell us is they have put on hold the second relief well. Why? Because of cost. Those shut offs are about $500.000 each. So their putting all their eggs in one basket with only one relief well being drilled. I'm an odds kinda guy and can't help think another relief well doubles our odds.
As many of my fellow blogger's wrote, Robert Reich has come out with a plan. A damn good one to boot. Nationalize BP. Have them go into receivership. Take them over as this is a National Emergency. In this way they would be working for us. Not their Board or stock owners. They still are trying everything possible to save money for shareholders. That would go away under Reich's plan. By the way his plan is legal and has be done before in other emergency's.
Something else I've been harping about since the second day of this, where's the tankers to suck up the oil. Under this plan at least five tankers would be made available that are currently still being used to make money. I'm anxious to hear the Presidential response. OBTW stop talking about putting these guys in jail. We got it! Fix the problem and we can go after the culprits later. Concentrate. Oh and on the second relief well..there would then be no question of cost. Bottom line would change to our bottom line. The bottom line that's best for our Nation.Reich

Tim, as appealing as Reich's idea sounds, how can the US 'nationalize' a British corporation? Wouldn't the UK be the only ones able to do that?

Yeah , the "putting them in jail" stuff is really nonsense here, knowing the legal system to a degree .... it's easy cheap talk to vent frustration .... get the MF fixed like you said is the issue here. Best way to hurt a greedy MF anywayz, isnt the threat of jail ... it's going for their pocketbook's! Frankly I dont give a shit if any of them go to jail .... that dont pay our bill's .... they got money .... I'll settle for that instead. But your talk of government takeover to an extent .... I like it ... but every time I say they folk's call me a socialist bastard. I like to protect my and my countries best interest's .... so if that is being a socialist ... then be it. I am very pro- business .... I just dont believe in dropping my drawer's and bending over and saying "more please". I'll shut the fuck up.
